A Christmas Message from the Principal

To everyone in Scoil Bhríde School Community,

As we finish up tomorrow for the Christmas Holidays, it’s hard to believe that this has been such a crazy, unpredictable year. With lockdowns and COVID waves it feels like we have been on one rollercoaster or COVID coaster!! Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be over either!!

This year presented huge challenges for everyone, both personally and professionally. We started off 2021 with great plans, but, January presented with high numbers and we were in another lockdown until February. The second lockdown was difficult for everyone as the sparkle from the first lockdown had truly worn off.

Then during the summer, it was endless preparations for our return to work. There were multiple DES guidelines and COVID-19 Plans and videos, messages and plans to cover all the possibilities for opening our schools “at all costs” and plans on how to ensure we would keep our school COVID Free. Back to school was all about hand washing, sanitizers, cleaning, masks, social distance, pods and bubbles. We slowed down to catch up and ensured everyone felt safe. We invested in CO2 Monitors and HEPA Filters when the Department of Education was still debating the necessity of these supports. BUT WE DID IT. We are so proud that we have kept our school and classes open. We are also grateful that the school community have taken all the necessary precautions to support us. This has been a difficult term as we grappled with the cessation of Contact Tracing and the introduction of Antigen Testing and Mask wearing for our 3rd -6th class children. The guidelines kept changing almost weekly and it was hard to keep up with symptoms, categories and concerns.

I want to thank the children for their perseverance and resilience during this really difficult time. They have adapted to the “pod life” and run in those gates with a smile and joy daily. Thank you to our parent community for your support and positive messages during this challenging time for everyone. Thank you to our dedicated team in the school: our teachers, SNAs, Patrick, our cleaners and Mandy for all their extraordinary effort in keeping this school open and as COVID free as possible. It has been stressful but we never let our concerns and worries impact our daily interactions with the children. Our aim was to ensure everyone’s wellbeing came first especially our own. We looked after each other like one big family. I would like to thank you our Parents Association for working with us during this unprecedented time. We were thrilled that they supported the Helix Pantomime “Little Red Riding Hood” for the children’s entertainment this year again. It brought such joy to the classrooms. As all our PA members vacate their roles, we will be looking for new members to run our Parents Association in the New Year. If you would like to get involved or become active in the school, please let us know. We want to start 2022 with a FRESH start in every way possible. Let’s make this a great year for everyone.

So as our Christmas Holidays begin, I want to wish you all a Happy, Peaceful and Safe Christmas. Take care of each other and most importantly enjoy this family time. Keep safe from Omicron and enjoy this special time.

I look forward to welcoming you all back on the 6th January with the help of God so we can enjoy a better 2022 together.

Speech on Christmas

A speech on Christmas Day is a wonderful way to share the joy and warmth of this festive season with others. Christmas, celebrated on December 25th, marks the birth of Jesus Christ and is a time of giving, kindness, and celebration. For students, it’s an opportunity to reflect on the values of love, peace, and gratitude. Whether you’re giving a speech at school or with your family, it’s a perfect occasion to express the spirit of Christmas through words that inspire joy and togetherness. Here are some easy samples of speech on Christmas Day in English for students.

Christmas Day Welcome Speech

‘I welcome you all in the name of Jesus and wish you all a joyous Merry Christmas. It warms my heart to be around so many beautiful people who have gathered here on this special day of celebration.’

‘On this special day, we are surrounded by the warmth of our friends and family and the joy of shared tradition. Christmas is not just a date in the calendar; it’s a special occasion to spread love, joy and happiness.’

‘As we exchange gifts and relish in the delight of unwrapping surprises, let us not forget the true gift of Christmas – love and kindness. In a world that can sometimes feel busy and divided, Christmas unites us with the universal language of compassion and goodwill.’

‘The LORD, the LORD, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.’ So, let us all reflect on this sweet gift on this Christmas Day.

Thank you.’

2-Minute Speech on Christmas for Students

‘Hello and welcome to everyone present here. I am delighted to present my speech at Christmas. We all know that the entire world celebrates the 25th of December as Christmas Eve. But how many of us know what this festival means? What is the importance of Christmas in the Christian culture? When was the first time we celebrated Christmas?’

‘The Christmas celebration started in ancient Rome in the 4th century. During this time, Rome was ruled by Constantine, who was the first Christian King. Since then, Christmas celebrations spread to different parts of Europe and other continents.’

‘Christmas is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Jesus Christ. Christ is known as the Son of God. This festival is not a religious festival but is a season of love, kindness and goodwill. During Christmas, everyone finds solace in others’ company. For some, it might just be a day off from work or school, but this festival has a special meaning.’

‘It’s a celebration of hope and renewal. It’s that time of the year when we reflect on ourselves, appreciate the blessings we’ve received and look forward to future opportunities. The gifts and sweets we exchange on Christmas day tell how much we care and love each other.’

‘We all have done Christmas tree decorations at school, home and community centre, where gifts, starts, ornaments and lights were hung to make it look aesthetically pleasing. Christians visit the Church, attending the services including prayers, hymns and reflections on the birth of Jesus Christ.’

‘Then comes the Santa Claus and Stockings feature of the festival. Excited and eagerly we wait for Santa Claus to give us gifts while we are asleep. The next morning starts with us looking at our gifts given by Santa, thanking him for his kindness and love for all of us.’

‘So this Christmas Eve, let us spread the message of love, hope and joy to everyone. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and may the warmth of the season stay with all of you throughout the coming year.

Inspirational Christmas Speech for Students

Good morning respected principal mam, teachers, and fellow students. Today I am standing in front of you to deliver a speech on Christmas Day.

Christmas calls for a time of celebration. However, it is also a time to reflect on the values that truly matter—love, kindness, and giving. As students, we often focus on our exams, grades, and future dreams. But the joyous occasion of Christmas reminds us that life is not just about what we achieve. It is so much more and thus, we should think about how we treat others.

Imagine this: you’ve worked hard on a school project, and you see a friend struggling with theirs. Instead of keeping your ideas to yourself, you offer help. That small act of kindness is what Christmas is all about—sharing, helping, and spreading joy. Christmas teaches us that we can make the world a little brighter by caring for others.

Let’s also remember that Christmas is not just about receiving gifts, but about the joy of giving. It could be something as simple as writing a heartfelt note to thank your teachers or offering a smile to a fellow student who is feeling down. These small gestures can make a huge difference.

So, this Christmas, let’s carry the spirit of kindness, generosity, and love into the new year. Thank you, and Merry Christmas to all!

Christmas Day is a yearly event remembering the arrival of Jesus Christ, typically celebrated on December 25. It holds significance as both a religious and cultural festivity observed by people globally.

The roots of Christmas are a bit hazy, but many think it developed from ancient festivities marking the winter solstice. Around the 4th century AD, the early Christian community decided on December 25 as the day to honor Jesus' birth. This choice might have been influenced by the Roman festival Saturnalia, a festive time associated with light and new beginnings.

The holiday has evolved over time, blending religious traditions with cultural customs, and it's now a joyous occasion celebrated by billions of people worldwide. It's not just about presents and feasts; Christmas is a time when families come together, exchanging warmth and goodwill. As we celebrate Christmas today, let us take a moment to appreciate the diversity within our student body. Our school is a tapestry of cultures, beliefs, and backgrounds, and it is this diversity that makes us stronger and more resilient. Christmas teaches us to appreciate the beauty in our differences and to come together in unity to celebrate the joy that transcends all boundaries.

This holiday season, I encourage every one of you to reflect on the accomplishments and challenges of the past year. Take a moment to appreciate the hard work and dedication that you have put into your studies and extracurricular activities. Use this time to express gratitude to your teachers, mentors, and fellow students who have been a source of inspiration and support throughout the year.

Christmas is also a time for self-reflection and growth. As students, you are on a journey of learning and self-discovery. Take this opportunity to set new goals for the upcoming year, both academically and personally. Challenge yourself to reach new heights and make a positive impact not only within the school community but also in the broader world.

Christmas Speech is usually given to classes 7, 8, 9, and 10.

Greetings and blessings of Christmas to everyone present here.

Many people believe that Christmas is purely a festival for the Christians, and they would be right if recent evidence were to be taken into consideration. However, this definition can not be further from reality concerning its roots as Christmas is a festival celebrated by everybody with joy. A few decades after Jesus’ birth in the ancient Roman Empire, Christmas originated.

The Pagan celebration of the term known as Saturnalia emanated Christmas. This celebration aimed to celebrate the sunrise and winter end. The festival usually takes place for a week and is characterized by illegal activity and a system for the exemption from lawless acts like housing. The last day of Saturnalia was adapted for Christmas in the 4thcentury. The goal was to obtain a positive association between this period and the pagans. Many pagans, therefore, converted into Christianity with the promise to celebrate their tradition still today. Historical evidence does not substantiate whether Jesus was born on December 25 or not.

“Feast day of Christ” can also be explained as the meaning of Christmas. The idea originated in Germany, but Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, who later spread it to the rest of the western world. This event was intended to make the whole family enjoy a day before December 25. You know it is Christmas season when you walk down the street and see them lit up with decorations, lights, and Christmas trees.

Christmas preparations generally begin on Christmas eve, which includes buying decorations, food as well as lots of gifts for everybody, including the children in the family and our beloved friends. Every shop will be selling Christmas decorations, and somewhere in the distance, you can hear choirs singing Christmas carols. The experience is almost enchanting and makes you forget about all your problems for a while. People singing and dancing, sharing gifts, spending time together, eating traditionally prepared turkeys, catching up with long lost childhood friends, visiting distant relatives, and putting a smile on people’s faces and showing a lot of love towards each other is all that Christmas is about.

History always proves that Christmas remains at least one of the most enjoyable times of the year. When I talk about Christmas, the vision I have in my mind is to spend time at home with the ones we love, welcome, watch movies, cook a great meal together with my family, and enjoy eating it and surrounded by shimmering lights. It is a picture that brings my heart warmth. So, this Christmas, let us make sure everyone can be joyous and can take part in this celebration.

Short Speech on Christmas 150 Words in English

Christmas Speech is usually given to classes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6.

Merry Christmas to everyone,

Christmas is a festival that is celebrated for the birth of Jesus on the 25th day of month December every year. In the cold winters of the Northern Hemisphere, Christmas brings forth the warmth of festivities. People rejoice with great enthusiasm and celebrate Christmas with their families annually. But at such times of joy, we should remember about those who are much less fortunate than us. Amidst all the shopping for gifts, we should also remember to make a voluntary contribution to uplift this society.

So this Christmas, you might just be the Santa Claus for someone who really needs help, a gift as small as a blanket or warm food might cheer them up more than one can imagine. Children can make old people happy just by talking to them and cheering them up, so why not initiate a will for volunteering at a young age, to make this world a better place to live in.

And I am sure everyone has at least one needy person living across the road or maybe around the corner of the street. As a part of this community, we should also remember about everyone else belonging to it.

A Christmas Message for School Children

Respected Principal, honoured guests, beloved teachers, and my dear friends,

Good morning to one and all.

Let me first of all thank God as well as the Principal of the School for giving me this opportunity to speak to you on Christmas. I wish to talk to you about the meaning of gifts during Christmas.

Christmas is a beautiful time of the year when family and friends come together. And gifts are exchanged. One group that is always excited at Christmas are children. This is because children love gifts. They look forward to receive gifts during this time of the year. In fact, it is this sense of expectation that makes Christmas special.

Blood Jesus Cleanse

Let me tell you how gifts can make Christmas special. There was a lovely young husband and wife who were poor. Both of them, Jim and Della, loved each other dearly. As Christmas came near both of them secretly thought about gifting each other with a lovely Christmas gift. But they did not have much money.

Della had long and beautiful hair. So Jim thought of buying her a beautiful hair clip. Della saw that the strap of Jim’s watch was broken. So she thought of buying him a watch strap. And on Christmas Eve both of them wished each other Happy Christmas and gave the gifts to each other.

But children there were tears in both their eyes. Do you know why? It was because Della had cut her long hair and sold it to get money to buy Jim a watch strap. And Jim had sold his watch to buy Della a hair clip.

This spirit of sacrifice is the true meaning of Christmas as this classic short story from O. Henry highlights. Likewise, it was not easy for God to send his Son Jesus to this world. It was a sacrifice. The Bible says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Therefore let us celebrate Christmas by thanking God for his indescribable gift—the gift of God’s Son Jesus!

Remember my dear children; he came just for you and for me!

Let me also tell you the story of a young boy who was an orphan. He was poor. During Christmas time he used to go to the street and watch the lovely gifts displayed inside shops. He would press his nose against the glass to have a closer look.

But he was sad because there was no one to give him a gift. One day, he saw a small cat on the road. He also saw a car coming against it. On seeing this the boy jumped in front of the car and saved the cat. But the car hit him. And he was taken to hospital.

There was a good nurse who took care of him. On Christmas day she gifted him with a toy. The boy opened the packet and found a toy train inside it. The nurse asked him, “Do you like it?”

The boy with great joy cried out: “There is no glass between.” Saying so he put the toy train close to his heart. See how happy he was when he had a toy for himself.

Dear children, may God gift you with the real joy of finding Jesus this Christmas. So that you too can say with this boy, “Now there is no glass between;  I too have found the true joy of Christmas.”

Finally, during Christmas time we remember the journey of the Wise Men who came from far way to worship baby Jesus. They had seen a star and travelled from far away to meet Jesus. And when the star led them to Jesus, they gave gifts of gold and myrrh and incense to Jesus. That is why in remembrance of their act of worship we also give gifts to each other during Christmas.

So think about it. When you meet Jesus, what will be the gift you wish to give him? I am sure Jesus will be happy to see your love towards him more than anything else. So try to love Jesus more this Christmas.

Wish all of you a blessed Christmas and a prosperous new year. Thank you.
