Free Christmas Worksheets
You're in the right place for some fun, free Christmas worksheets that your students will love. And while they're having fun, they'll also be gaining some valuable spelling practice.
- Letter to Santa
Bobby has written a heartfelt letter to his pal, Santa, but he has used lots of misspellings! Pass out the printable version to your students, ask them to circle the spelling errors, and then have them rewrite the short letter. (Full text also appears below.)

Using This Worksheet
1. You may choose to review these frequently misspelled elementary words before passing out this page.
2. It may also be helpful to review common homonyms such as your/you're, new/knew and others. See this long list of homonyms with definitions and examples.
3. After you've solved this page, grab some graph paper, (or an online word search creator) and make your own holiday word search puzzle. Here are some tips and ideas:
- Choose any holiday for which you can generate a good word list. Make a different one for Christmas, or choose Hanukkah, New Year's Day, Groundhog's Day, Easter, or whatever you prefer.
- After selecting a topic, brainstorm a list of 40-50 words or so. Hone your list to the best words.
- Then start hiding! Write your words in all directions for upper grades/adults. Write your words only in horizontal and vertical directions for younger learners.
- Next, add more letters to fill in the blanks. (Be sure to use the same pen or pencil for this as you did when you hid the words.)
- Double check your work.
- Add clipart or your own drawings, if you like.
- Make a copy to share, and try to keep the original. You may want to use it again!
- Give your puzzle to a friend, co-worker or family member to solve.

Here's the Christmas spelling unit for second grade. Words include: Santa, Mrs. Claus, boots, sled, bag, toys, cookie, gift, and milk.
This list contains winter and Christmas words, including snowman, Santa, holly, angel, wreath, sleigh, lights, carols, and candle.
